DESCRIPTION: Frontiersman Sourdough is a wild cultivated Alaskan sourdough starter, handmade in Anchorage, Alaska. It is shelf stable, made with 100% organic ingredients, packaged in 2oz biodegradable kraft paper pouches, and stamped with the "Made in Alaska" bear permit.
DIRECTIONS: Begin activating starter at least 24hrs before use. This full package creates approximately 24oz of starter ready to use and share. Directions assume a 70 degree Fahrenheit environment. Times may be longer if conditions are cooler.
- Empty starter into a larger mixing bowl. Add 2oz of lukewarm water to the starter and let soak for at least 1 hour, stirring occasionally until completely dissolved.
- Mix in 2oz unbleached all-purpose flour and 2oz water, cover loosely, and let rest approximately 12 hours or until it is actively bubbling.
- Mix in 8oz unbleached all-purpose flour and 8oz water, cover loosely, and let rest approximately 12 hours or until it is actively bubbling.
- Your starter is now active and ready to use!
